Default If I do cardio in the morning......??

Lets say I wake up at 5am, I have a protien shake. Should I do simple carbs or complex carbs with the protien before cardio or neither?

After cardio, I do a protien shake, do I do simple carbs (dextrose) or complex carbs (oatmeal)??

Keeping in mind that I will be doing weights at roughly 6pm later that day.

Why take any? Your killing the reason of morning cardio, unless your just doing it for cardiovascular health.

Ya, the carbs would defeat the purpose of fat burning...

If your looking for fat loss I personally do cardio on a complete empty stomach first thing in the morning. Then wait to supplement a while afterwards. Not sure about the protein part but as far as fat loss goes this has worked the best for me.

I just took some glutamine and had some water before my morning cardio sessions. Elite used to recomend having just whey protein alone before morning cardio maybe you would want to try that if you are worried about muscle loss.

Amino Acids ftw, it's like a protein shake without the calories. Protein turns into amino's in the body anyway after it's all broken down.

How long would you wait to supplement? Roughly 1 to 2 hours?

Dont BCAA's cause an insulin spike when you take them? I would say just do cardio on an empty stomach for optimal fatloss, but if you ask ten people you will prob get 10 diff answers. I doubt your body would burn that much muscle from low intensity cardio in the morning. I also read that you should wait an hour to eat so you dont blunt the fat burning from the cardio

Upon further research, you are right. I posted a thread in the supplement section I believe with the title BCAA's where Justin Harris explained the myth behind cardio and BCAA's or protein etc. He basically said that he wakes up on an empty stomach and takes his walk . The early hunters are made to hunt for hours. Me personally, I am starting AM cardio at 6 AM for 30 minutes, after about 20 minutes, I take my BCAA's then have my Protein/ carb breakfast which are my only carbs for the day on non training days.

Yea the most important thing is that you do the cardio and follow a good diet. The the fatloss will come. I think its easy to over think things sometimes...
