This is the cheap and easy (and generally accurate) way to check your basal metabolic rate without going to the doctor, but a trip to the doc is always the best way to know exactly whats going on, but this method is well established and accurate enough for most people to get an idea of what is going on:
Take morning body temp FIRST thing in the morning BEFORE getting out of bed as soon as you awake. Record numbers for 4-5 days. 97.4-98.3 normal metabolic rate. 96.5-97.1 metabolism reduced as much as 15-20% 95.5-96-5, you be fucked, thyroid pummeled into submission. 94.5-95-5. Your metabolism is shot, extremely lowered basal metabolism. All but the first numbers are very bad indicators for the majority of the people. A few "burn" lower normally than most people and are always on the low side, but that is usually easy to diagnose with a few questions. IA

I've been doing this for years now... thanks to my first-born son (Mallet).
May also indicate under-lying adrenal issues, lack of dietary iodine, etc. as well. A good step #2: http://www.ironforlife.com/t104-tes...l-function.html |

Yes my friend, it is very useful, But the main causes of slow metabolism are under active thyroid or sometimes diabetes. Blood tests to check both of these can be easily carried out by your nurse at the Doctors Surgery. Losing weight successfully tho; is always a combination of lowering calorie intake and increasing activity level.
