Default Omega-3 sources

Are the sources of Omega-3 fatty acids equal in value? ie, is flax just as good a source as salmon, or are botanical and animal sources different?

nuts, seeds, eggs and oils have a good amount of omega-3's as well as 6 and 9. fish like salmon and fishy oils however have a more complex and concentrated amount of omega 3's so they are the best source. flax and linseed oils are the best and most concentrated none fish source for omega 3's.

so to answere salmon is more omega 3's then flax, but flax is not a bad source. i would think plenty for the bodybuiling/weightlifting life style

hope that helped bro

flax is called ala, fish oils have epa and dha. I would either buy both seperatley or buy a good omega 3-6-9 complex so u get a full spectrum of efa's

Yes they might be cheap, but they are not quality oils though.

"Basically, if you smell fish when you open the jar, it's not a good brand.. Molecularly distilled fish oil should have a faint fish flavor, unless it's from the liver (not good, IMO).. Most good companies don't use farmed fish for the oils, they get freshly caught cold water fish.. The main brands to look for, which can be bought either online or at a well-priced retailer:

Nordic Naturals
Health from the Sea
New Chapter
Minami Nutrition
Country Life
Coromega
NexGen Pharma (Vitamer, they specialize in private label product)

There are others, those I knew right off the top of my head.."
